International Development Research @ Cambridge

Are you interested in AgriFood, in the early stages of your research career and interested in building new collaborative links with early career researchers in China? If so, this workshop is for you.

Through a competitive process we will be selecting 17 UK-based early career researchers to attend an all-expenses paid three-day workshop in Shanghai where you will meet and work with a similar number of early career Chinese researchers.

Chinese agriculture needs to provide sufficient cereals, vegetables and fruits for its population, while at the same time providing grain for livestock to meet the growing demand for meat. Foods need to contain sufficient nutrients and be free of harmful contaminates. By bringing early career Chinese and UK researchers together we will lay the foundation for a long-term network working towards delivering a healthy and safe food supply for China.

Workshop aims:

  • Provide case studies to inspire and act as guideposts to best practice
  • Allow researchers to meet, exchange ideas and initiate working relationships
  • Promote challenge-based, interdisciplinary, synthetic thinking in and international context
  • Provide mentoring in research programme development, grant applications and publishing
  • Develop an interdisciplinary UK-China network of researchers
  • Strengthen this network through exchange of people and development of shared resources
  • Utilise this network to drive development of larger multi-investor grants
