About Professor Frank Kavishe's visit to Cambridge
Co-hosted by Professor Catherine Rae at the Department of Materials Science and Metallurgy, Frank will be representing the following research priorities at UNAM's Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology:
- Introducing effective technologies for long term sustainability in water supply at community level using small-scale desalination plants to treat underground brackish water.
- Mapping of underground water resources in Namibia using remote sensing techniques such as ground penetrating radar coupled with electro-magnetic techniques.
- Flood management, including water catchment infrastructure.
- Application of renewable energy mainly in rural communities using solar photovoltaics and wind energy.
- Other project with significant positive impact to communities and the society at large.
