Short Course Description
This course may be of particular interest to learners from overseas countries experiencing significant challenges with water management and irrigation.
Day 1 introduction, presentations on Water, Land and Crop Management, introduction & background to SALTMED model, live demonstration of model
Day 2 & 3 Practical exercises and work with the model based on your needs and interests.
The course covers the following
- Water and solute transport
- Nitrogen fertilizers management
- Irrigation and Drainage systems and management
- Crop growth and yield
- Estimating crop water requirement
- Soil moisture, soil nitrogen and salinity status
- Impact of climate change on yield and the length of crop growth season
- Crop rotations including non-conventional crops
- Approaches to improve water use efficiency and water productivity
