International Development Research @ Cambridge

The aim of the Global Engangement Meetings is to showcase the opportunities available through Global Challenges Research Fund (GCRF), to bring together developing country and UK researchers and to discuss opportunities for maximising the contribution of GCRF research into policy and practice.

RCUK has recently developed a Global Challenges Research Fund (GCRF) global engagement programme.  The programme is taking a number of different approaches to engagement, including running a series of large international, Global Engagement Meetings (GEMs) in different regions of the world; smaller scale capacity building events; and hosting GCRF sessions at other events.

Each Global Engagement Meeting runs across three days and a competitive process for applications is being run.  The events have been designed to contain a mixture of plenary sessions, workshops and networking opportunities and will be interdisciplinary and interactive. Each event will have around 100 attendees drawn from different countries, different disciplines, and from a mix of academic and non-academic organisations (e.g. non-governmental organisations; charities; policy makers; international funders).

How to apply

Applications to the Kenya event (Nairobi, Wednesday 31st January – Friday 2nd February 2018) are now open to apply for this event please fill out the following application form.

This is a competitive process and not all applications to attend will be successful.  Applications will be assessed on their answers to the questions in the smart survey and chosen to ensure there is representation from a range of disciplines, organisations and career stages.

Attendees travel, accommodation and any visa costs will be covered (based on economy class travel) for the duration of the event. More details about costs can be found on the online application form:
