Professor Koen Steemers is a Professor of Sustainable Design and Head of the Department of Architecture (2009-14), the Head of Research and Director of the Martin Centre (2005-2009), the Director of Studies and Fellow of Jesus College and a Director of Studies at St Edmund’s College and Selwyn College. He is also a member of the strategic advisory board of the Energy @ Cambridge Strategic Research Initiative and a member of the Cambridge Forum for Sustainability and the Environment. 

Koen is an architect and environmental design specialist. His research, which deals with the environmental performance of buildings and cities focussing on human perception, wellbeing and behaviour, which has particularly relevance for the lives of the world’s poorest 3 billion people.
