International Development Research @ Cambridge

 

Research Associates and Senior Research Associates are invited by the Office of Postdoctoral Affairs to participate in an explorative trip to the University of Central Asia (UCA) in Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan. Delegates will present on their research or area of expertise to local academic and research staff and research students, and discuss research at UCA. One aspect of the trip will be to identify areas of potential research collaboration.

The preliminary dates for the trip are Sunday 13th May to Monday, 21st May 2018 (exact dates to be confirmed). All costs for travel, accommodation, subsistence, travel insurance and visas are covered.

The aim of the trip is to explore areas of potential research collaborations in the following areas:

  • Regional trade and economic cooperation in Central Asia;
  • Labour migration, labour market informality and SME development;
  • Development of agricultural value chains;
  • Ecosystem services and conservation, together with sustainable mountain livelihoods;
  • Vulnerability of the built environment and economies to climate change, from community to global scales;
  • the multi-dimensional Food, Energy, Water and the Environment (WEFE) Nexus

To apply for this opportunity, please submit

  • a letter outlining your interest and expertise in any of the above areas and how you might contribute to this project;
  • an academic CV, including experience in building collaborations and presenting on your research (2 pp maximum + publications).
  • Please also include your nationality and current UK Visa status, full name as in travel document, and place and day of birth for visa purposes.
