The RAEng Research Fellowships are designed to promote excellence in engineering. They provide support for high-quality engineers and encourage them to develop successful academic research careers.
This call is aimed at outstanding engineering researchers who have been awarded their PhD Certificate no more than four years prior to the submission deadline, 6th September 2017. PhD students are eligible to apply, but must have been awarded their PhD before they start the Research Fellowship (all Research Fellowships must commence between 1st August 2018 and 30th November 2018). The scheme provides funding for five years to encourage the best researchers to remain in the academic engineering sector.

The Engineering for Development Research Fellowships are a Royal Academy of Engineering scheme funded by the Global Challenges Research Fund (GCRF). The Royal Academy of Engineering has funding to award four researchers an Engineering for Development Research Fellowship, as long as the proposed research project meets the official ODA guidelines. These fellowships offer the same benefits as the Research Fellowship, but come with an additional ring fenced £25,000 per year to support international collaborations.
