International Development Research @ Cambridge

 

R2HC aims to improve health outcomes by strengthening the evidence base for public health interventions in humanitarian crises.

The R2HC programme is the product of a strategic partnership between the UK Government (DFID), the Wellcome Trust, and the UK National Institute for Health Research (NIHR).

Objective

This is an annual ‘Open Call’, with proposals invited to address specific or multiple public health issues, gathering data or evidence with the potential to contribute to improved public health outcomes in humanitarian contexts.

Under this Call, proposals on the following theme will be particularly welcomed:

  • Evaluation of interventions focused on health system strengthening in fragile states and protracted crises.

Eligibility

  • Applicants can come from any part of the world.
  • The lead applicant may be a research institution, a non-profit institution, or NGO, a UN agency, or a public or government institution (including a military organisation of the state); individual researchers cannot be lead applicants.

Funding Level

  • Up to £3.5m of research funding is available in this programme.
  • Grants will be for a maximum duration of 36 months: 24 months for the research to be conducted, followed by 12 months for undertake and dissemination activities.
